All-time Best Invention?

I hate to think what life would be like without it. I am speaking, of course, about toilet paper. Many inventions have improved the quality of our lives. Few of them could match the impact made by the invention of toilet paper.

Before paper, the wipe of choice was the corncob. The use of corncobs has been the butt of jokes for years. The Sears, Roebuck catalog was also popular.

Like most advances mankind has made, this one was a result of small, incremental improvements. One of those was the single ply sheet. When it was first introduced it was believed to be a break through. It really did break through so it fell out of favor when rolls of two ply came along.
