“All God’s Children Got Rhythm” was first sung in the 1937 movie “A Day at the Races.” Here are a couple of lines:
Ain’t got money, ain’t got shoes
All God’s children got rhythm
For to push away their dog-gone weary blues
At a recent sixties music show I was once again reminded that not all of us have this rhythm thing. A young thirties something woman “danced” herself into a lather as others watched; some observers seemed to be horrified by what they were seeing. Lost in her own enjoyment, she seemed oblivious to their stares of disbelief.

For those who lack the basic sense of dance rhythm there is no cure; one is born with it or not. Dance lessons to acquire rhythm are not likely to help.
What are folks without the randomly awarded birthright of rhythm to do? Are they to remain seated while others dance the night away? ABSOLUTELY NOT! There is room on the dance floor of life for all.
Even if all we do is watch, we can still appreciate those with rhythm. (Who invented that word, anyway? 🙂 )
