Everyone Keeps Talking – Is Anyone Listening?
Din is in! Just put a microphone on people who are participating in a televised interview or panel and their response is instantaneous. They all start talking and nobody is left to listen. The audience cannot make sense of any of it.
Talking over someone else often demonstrates a weakness in logic and an absence of facts. When one has a well thought out position it can and should be stated in as few words as possible. Absent clarity of thought a blizzard of words is used as cover.
We can apply this approach in our personal lives. We all know people who never stop talking. Here is good reason to let them keep talking. Often, they will talk long enough to demonstrate the lack of clarity and the weakness in their thinking. You can win the argument by letting them talk.
A popular song from 1960 says it well. Listen to Joe Jones sing “You Talk Too Much.”
