Does Voter Fraud Matter?

What voter fraud? Some would claim that there is no voter fraud. Then, there are those who recognize that some voting fraud occurs but believe nothing needs to be done because it is “only a little background noise.” For years now, post election audits have identified several counties in some states where more votes were cast and counted than their number of registered voters. The totals across the US run into the millions.

A recent article from my boyhood hometown newspaper, Pittsburgh’s Herald Tribune, included some disturbing information. “In Allegheny County, Pennsylvania — home to Pittsburgh — PILF researchers have said there are nearly 1,600 dead people on the voter rolls, along with more than 1,500 voters who are listed as 100-years-old or over, and nearly 7,500 voters who have been flagged due to duplicate registration concerns.” {Total is at least 10,600 in just that county.}

As we head for November 2020 elections, some claiming they want “every vote to count” seek to allow prisoners and non-citizens to vote. Fourteen states, including Pennsylvania, continue to block voter ID requirements. Now some in the US Congress are promoting legislation which, if passed into law, would allow voting to take place using untraceable mail-in ballots.

Early voting (weeks ahead of election-day), absentee voting, provisional ballots, voting in any precinct (not just the one you registered in) and same day register & vote already diminish our confidence in an accurate vote count outcome.

In many voting locations exiting voters are given lapel stickers that proclaim “I Voted.”  Perhaps this year’s version should read “I Voted and I Voted and I Voted.” Will we take corrective action to regain an accurate vote count? Don’t count on it!

  1. We need to protect our votes. Voter IDs need to be made mandatory.
