Where has morality gone? Just seventy years ago I was child attending Sunday school at our tiny Methodist church. It was there that we learned the Ten Commandments. We were taught these life-shaping lessons by dedicated and principled adults. As we came to understand each one, they made sense and most of us tried to live our lives following them. They worked!
Thou Shalt NOT
Take the Lord’s name in vain, Steal, Bear False Witness, Covet, Kill, Commit Adultery.
In the decades that followed these principles became hazy memories. Rarely mentioned in conversation and never again to be posted in public places, they have faded into history. The youth of today are not being introduced to them.
Much of society today operates with a list of Personal Life Choices. We make our own rules. Nothing is seen as wrong unless we decide that it is. If it feels good just do it.
Final Thought: Even if one does not believe in God and salvation, life lived by high personal standards and having others do the same would once again make life more pleasant for all. Perhaps that is too much to hope for but living as we are now does not seem to be working.

I signed in once to WordPress but was not sure what good that did me. This is the first time I have noticed a place to give you a comment. I notice you keep your blogs non political (and books I am sure) so maybe you will not be canceled.

There is too much political material out there already. Life has so much else to consider that writing about real life issues has more appeal to me and I hope to readers. I love the exchange of thinking that results from it.

I have always subscribed to the Golden Rule: Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. I contend that no religion’s precepts run counter to that credo. If one lives one’s life with that single thought in mind, one will have lived a godlike life, and have no fear of the life that follows. 🙂

The Golden Rule makes so much sense that it is a wonder that more people don’t use it in guiding their thoughts and deeds. The popular use of hate is an obvious example of disregard for the Golden Rule.
