Do some people choose to die young? WHY?
HOW? Alcohol, drugs, and obesity!
Popular entertainers in music, comedy and movies have been making those choices for years. When these celebrity deaths occur, they make headline news. There are many notable examples. Here are just three.
County music star Keith Whitley choose alcohol over life and died at 34 in 1989.
Comedian John Candy choose obesity (over 300 pounds) over life and died at 43 in 1994.
Movie star River Phoenix choose drugs and died at 23 in 1993.
When a member of the public makes that choice, their passing makes little news. The cause of death is not mentioned in their obituary. Friends and neighbors briefly speculate, say “what a shame” and move on with their lives.
Here is my request. If you care about anyone headed down this self-destructive path, don’t just be a spectator. Share your deep concern. Point them toward some help. Ultimately, they may not listen and act, as they have the right to choose death over life. But if they do choose death, my original question remains unanswered. WHY?
